Comenius 2.1 Project SEDEC
The aims of the project are to contribute to education in science and to raise
awareness of European citizenship through the development of teaching and training
methodologies and materials. The partnership ensures geographical balance, co-existence
of old and new EU member states and one candidate country, as well as a range
of competences in the field. The target groups are primary and lower secondary
school teachers and museum educators.
The planned activities are:
a) A survey on teachers and pupils perception of science and European citizenship
in the different countries as starting point,
b) The development of a website as communication and distance learning tool,
c) A multilingual on-line database of cultural heritage resources to be used
by schools within and outside the partner countries,
d) The production of educational materials to be used in the classroom, focusing
on science education and European citizenship,
e) A European in-service training course.
The expected outcome is a wide proposal of resources (museums, heritage, companies,
etc.) and educational methodologies in order to contribute to the development
of young people's interest in science and in scientific careers, as well as
to European integration and citizenship.
